    my first knitted ED dress

i knitted a dress for Išunn and i would like to show it to you.

this is the first clothing for ED, or any doll, that i have made. i knitted with baby wool and 2mm needles. i didn't use a pattern but just measured her bust, waist and hips and then tried to decrease and increase at the right places.

here i was figuring out how to finish the dress and what closure to have on it.
i started out with too many stitches in the top part, so i ended up with "flaps" that are too long. then decided to use them and put a rainbow moonstone bead on it as a button. i had not knitted a button hole so i had to widen a stitch, but it works.

then i was racking my brain to figure out a way to tighten the part below the button, until i thought of using yarn. but what colour??
i tried different ones until i found the red one which i liked the most.

(you can see, in the pic above, how the flap is creating too much bulk in the top part of the dress)

    lacing it up

    the finished dress:

i'm quite happy with this as my first dress but want to try again and improve on it.
next i want to make a knitted dress for my Pirooz because i think this colour would look great on her too. and i will go buy more baby wool next week!

i have the dilemma with the dress though, that i almost like the back of it better than the front.

thanks for looking and woohoo, i finished something

Congratulations dear Annina, Iðunn looks really great in this color and style.....how lovely !
Incredible that you managed to make it so fitting without a pattern. I also thought the overlap on top was intended !
    Adorable ♥

Cute cute cute! Such tiny perfect stitches, Annina, and a great design! She looks both chic and comfortable--perfect for an active Enchanted girl.

Annina, you are so clever to knit a garment without a pattern!
    The finished dress is beautiful
    You should be very proud.

The wool is a lovely color for Idunn, and so soft. And I love the way the dress laces up at the back.
Idunn is so sweet and patient waiting for her new dress, and she looks very pretty modelling it for us to see.
Thank you for the pictures, and WELL DONE ANNINA !!!

aww thank you all, i'm really happy that you like it so much!

by the way, me knitting without a pattern is mainly because i don't understand knitting jargon to actually read a pattern, and with a tube dress like this it works to just get the circumferences. this dress is combined from unknowingness, lazyness and then being lucky in the end that it somehow fit together nicely. that's the way i like to work, like "the fool" in tarot.

Never stop dreaming, if you have a dream you have reason to live for. Don't let them die pursue them achieve them and find another to pursue.
