Thank you Katdazzle!! You are very kind!! You are so right! I learn more with each doll, it feels knowledge that is hard won. It is great fun and I find even more so if there is no specific plan at the minute. It feels really luxurious just to potter about willy nilly making whatever I please.

    Wowee !

Anna, somehow I must have missed this last post - I've been wondering how your girls are coming along. They are looking fabulous! Gosh, you're doing a great job for a first attempt. I've given up the idea of trying to sculpt a doll. Think I might give a cloth doll a try instead. You've inspired me to just get stuck in and have a go. I've made small, five-way jointed teddy bears in the past - so we'll see what happens!

Sorry Anna, but I'm not yet ready to sit at my sewing machine. I've never attempted to make a cloth doll pattern before, so I'm still in the 'research and development' stage. I imagine trying to get the right body shape may prove quite difficult. Lots of trial and error me thinks !! And if it doesn't work out, I'll be too embarrassed to post pictures!
By the way, I had a similar childhood experience to you, with one of my dolls. She too had a black mark on her face and in trying to remove it I made it far worse, including a dent and yes, I was also very upset. Also, one Christmas Day, I received a doll almost as big as I was. I thought she was the most beautiful doll I'd ever seen, with gorgeous long, shiny, curly hair. On that same day we set off in the car to go on holiday and because she was so big, I laid her up on the back parcel shelf. When we arrived at our destination I discovered, to my horror, that the heat of the sun shining through the window had singed one side of her beautiful hair. I was devastated. Where's my analyst?

You're so right Anna, people have already been incredibly kind with advice on sizing etc. Some have offered to trace their dolls and I couldn't believe it when Pania offered to make a last to model the stilettos that I've ordered from Marina. That's how this whole idea started. I thought I could try to make a doll to model the shoes!! I also ordered one of the gorgeous little hand pendants.
I haven't received them yet, but I'm excited, as it's probably as close to an Enchanted Doll as I will ever get!
