    Doll measurements

I don't know if this is the right section but I just noticed that the doll measurements are on the Enchanted Doll site. maybe I noticed this before but the short-term memory sometimes skips over what should have been imprinted on my brain.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I finally got a chance to sit down and look at the measurements here, and I quickly realized that I couldn't recreate the measurements accurately without the lengths between.

typically to make any decent garment, having widths and length is what I would normally need. I have made a list of measurements and filled it in with the metric measurements we know already. The length between lets say the base of the neck to the widest point of the bust, or from the bust to the waist, or the waist to the hips.

I tie yarn around each wide or narrow point, and then I measure the spaces between the lines of yarn. then I cut the yarn off by the knot and measure the length that went around the doll.

here is a list of the measurements I need, I would be EVER so grateful if someone was kind enough to take the time to fill the hole in )

    neck circumference..............5cm
    (length between points)........?
    bust at widest point..............12.7cm
    (length between points).........?
    waist.................................. 8.5cm
    (length between points).........?
    hips.................................... 14.5cm
    (length between points).........?
    mid thighs(pressed together)..?
Length from the hips to toe.....?

    arm hole circumference..........?

circumference of arm at widest point....?

    wrist circumference....................... 2.5cm

length of arm from shoulder to wrist 11.9cm

    thank you!

    Hey Leigh,

If you print out a picture of Biscuitbear's comparison with Barbie and then blow it up on a copier to the correct height, the proportions are pretty easy to measure. It should be close enough to work with.

Each print out will determine the amount of enlargement. The one I did was blown up by 144% from the original print out. I don't know if that would work for you or not.

Print out the picture, measure from the top of Chandra's head to about the bottom of her heel, not the full length of the foot because it's on a shortened angle. That "length" needs to be blown up to be 35cm or 350mm total length.

When you have the proper height, the distance between the points, say the bust and waist, bust and hip, bust to floor, you know :-) are all easier to measure with a life size picture.

Someone else did this earlier, don't remember who, sorry :-)

    Make any sense?

    Hi Labrat!

Not a bad idea, for the most part that would work, except possibly for the bust.

Because they protrude, the measurement from the waist to the bust and from the bust to the neck is on inclines, which is typically longer than just a flat distance.

Maybe if I add a half a centimeter to each measurement, it will fit?

I will give it a shot!

Leigh, I will try posting the measurements you need, but probably not before the WE, I'm busy finishing a costume for my daughter's school carnival.

Biscuitbear, that is SO nice of you! I am not in any real rush, I just didn't know if anyone ever saw my post :P

I have so many ideas to make, but I wanted to be sure before I start.

    Thanks so much!

    Hugs!
